The Wrangell St. Elias National Park is the largest National Park in the US. It is the size of six Yellowstone’s. Four major mountain ranges meet here, and include 9 of the 16 highest peaks in the United States. The high country is covered with snow year round, resulting in extensive ice fields and glaciers. The Bagley Ice Field is the largest sub polar ice field in North America. Wrangell-St. Elias and the adjoining Kluane National Park in Canada form one of the premier mountain wilderness areas in North America. It can be reached from Anchorage via the Glenn Highway to the Richardson, the Edgerton Highway and the McCarthy Road. The northern portion of the park can be reached via the Nabesna Road, from Slana on the Tok Cutoff.
