Crescent Creek and Carter Lake Trail is an 18 mile trail joining the Seward and Sterling Highways. It is great for a multi-day trip although the trail from Crescent to Carter is primitive. Cresent lake trailhead is at mile 45 on the Sterling Highway. Turn on Quartz Lake road and follow for 3.5 miles to Cresent Lake campground. 9 units no reservations. Cresent Lake trail head stars here. Carter Lake Trail head is at mile 33 on the Seward Highway. Day hikes from either Trailhead are great. About 8 miles round trip to Carter Lake from the Seward Hwy and 13 miles round trip to Crescent Creek from the Sterling Highway.
