John Hunter Memorial Trail

John Hunter Memorial Trail (Formerly Solomon Gulch Trail) climbs through a coastal spruce forest where it joins with the Trans Pipeline Service (TAPS) road and continues to Solomon Gulch. In 1915 an aerial tram ran 5.2 miles from the beach, to the Midas Mine on Solomon Gulch. The trail head is at the west end of the first parking area at Allison Point on the Dayville Road. The 3.8 miles will take 2-2.5 hours round trip. Moderate difficulty.
