Captain Charlie Binkley first arrived in Fairbanks in 1898 with dreams of piloting sternwheelers on the great river systems of Alaska and the Yukon.

A great family tradition was founded in Fairbanks and over 75 years later his descendants still continue to carry passengers on Alaska’s rivers. The Discovery Sternwheelers are the only remaining authentic sternwheelers in operation in the state of AK. It’s more than just a boat ride, as guests stop at the Chena Village and are welcomed by Alaska Native Tour Guides who share their culture and first-hand experiences on a premier cultural tour of the interior Alaska Native People.

Guests also see a bush plane take off and land before visiting Trail Breaker Kennels for a dog-mushing demonstration. The tour is consistently rated as one of the best tours in Alaska by international travel writers. This is one tour you don’t want to miss. 907-479-6673 or 866-479-6673
