The Totem Heritage Center houses a priceless collection of original 19thcentury totem poles. Unlike the replicas found elsewhere, the Center’s poles were collected from around Ketchikan and rescued from abandoned Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian village sites in the 1970s. The poles offer a beautiful glimpse into
ancestral lineage and oral histories. Beyond the towering cedar monuments, visitors can explore intricate
basketry, masks, and regalia. The Center supports the living artistic traditions of the Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian peoples, offering opportunities to learn about and engage with Native arts while fostering cultural understanding. Within walking distance of downtown at 601 Deermount St. 907-225-5900
